Cycling and E-Scooter Safety in Dubai: Lanes, Helmets and Visibility
Dubai Police urge cyclists and scooter riders to use designated lanes, wear a helmet and a reflective vest, and follow speed limits. Each one cuts the risk of a collision, either by keeping you apart from faster traffic or by making you easier for drivers to see.
Core Safety Habits
- Designated lanes: use marked cycle or scooter lanes wherever they exist. They separate you from motor traffic and from turning vehicles at junctions.
- Helmet: wear a properly fitted helmet on every ride.
- Reflective gear and lights: a reflective vest and front and rear lights matter most at dawn, dusk and night, when drivers see riders much later.
- Speed: keep to local limits and slow down around pedestrians.
