UAE Labour Disputes: 98.6% Resolved Amicably
In the UAE, specifically in areas like Dubai, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has been working to resolve labour disputes efficiently. The MoHRE has successfully resolved 98.6% of labour disputes amicably in the first half of 2026, with only 2,481 cases being referred to court. This significant achievement highlights the effectiveness of the UAE’s labour dispute resolution framework.
The high settlement rate is a result of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the efficiency of its labour dispute resolution mechanisms. The MoHRE‘s authority to adjudicate labour disputes involving claims of up to AED 50,000 has helped accelerate settlements and reduce pressure on the judicial system. This has enabled employees to obtain their entitlements more quickly, promoting a smoother and more efficient labour market.
According to Ahmed Al Qara, Director of the Labour Relations Department at MoHRE, the Ministry continues to enhance the efficiency of its labour dispute resolution mechanisms through proactive and effective solutions. These solutions protect the rights of all parties in the employment relationship, ensuring a fair and just labour market.
The MoHRE’s achievements in labour dispute resolution are part of its broader efforts to strengthen the labour market and protect the rights of employees. The Ministry’s upgraded Wage Protection System and direct adjudication of claims up to AED 50,000 have been key factors in achieving the high settlement rate. As the UAE continues to grow and develop, the MoHRE’s efforts to resolve labour disputes efficiently will remain crucial in maintaining a stable and productive labour market.
The UAE’s labour dispute resolution framework is a key component of the country’s overall labour market strategy. The MoHRE’s success in resolving labour disputes amicably demonstrates the effectiveness of this framework and highlights the importance of efficient dispute resolution mechanisms in promoting a stable and productive labour market. As the UAE continues to implement its labour market strategy, the MoHRE’s achievements in labour dispute resolution will remain an important factor in achieving the country’s economic goals.
