Spider-Man: Brand New Day Crosses $1 Billion in Six Days
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide in just six days, making it one of the fastest films in history to reach this milestone. The film, starring Tom Holland as Spider-Man, achieved this feat after its theatrical release, with only Avengers: Endgame in 2019 reaching $1 billion faster. Internationally, the film has added $645.8 million, pushing its global total to $1.05 billion.
The Marvel-Sony release has turned nearly every day of its theatrical run into a box office milestone, with the film earning $407 million in North America alone and becoming the fastest movie to cross the $400 million domestic threshold. It also delivered the highest-grossing Monday in box office history, driven by strong audience reception and high rates of repeat viewings. The film’s emotional storyline and focus on the web-slinger’s internal conflict have been credited for connecting with audiences and giving a fresh take on a familiar franchise and genre.
The summer box office has seen a significant boost, with the total standing at $3.6 billion, up 16.7% compared to last year’s season and running just 0.7% behind the pre-pandemic summer of 2019. Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s success has given analysts hope that the domestic box office could finally reach $10 billion by the end of the year for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film’s production budget was about $225 million, and it was produced by Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures. With its record-setting run, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has outpaced Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which had a two-week head start at the box office.
This achievement is connected to the previous success of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which also broke box office records in 2019.
