Dubai's Etihad Rail Station to Launch on September 30
The wait is almost over for the Etihad Rail station to open in Dubai. Located in Jumeirah Golf Estates, Al Yalayis Station will welcome passengers from September 30, 2026, as part of the UAE’s national passenger rail network expansion. This development is set to make travel between major cities and towns quicker and easier, with the 900-kilometre railway eventually connecting communities across the UAE.
The opening of Al Yalayis Station will mark a significant milestone in the UAE’s transportation environment, allowing passengers to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in approximately 50 minutes. The station will also connect directly with Dubai Metro’s Red Line and the planned Gold Line, making onwards journeys across the city even easier.
The Etihad Rail network is opening in phases, with two stations currently operational: Abu Dhabi Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Fujairah. Other stations, including Liwa, Madinat Zayed, Al Dhannah, Al Sila, Al Mirfa, and University City, are scheduled to open in the coming months.
In terms of journey times, Etihad Rail has announced that passengers can expect the following travel times once the network is fully operational: Abu Dhabi to Dubai in around 50 minutes, Dubai to Fujairah in around 50 minutes, and Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in around 1 hour 40 minutes. The network is expected to carry as many as 36 million passengers every year by 2030, with passenger trains traveling at speeds of up to 200km/h.
The expansion of the Etihad Rail network is a significant development for the UAE, and the opening of Al Yalayis Station in Dubai is a major step forward in this process. As the network continues to grow and expand, it is likely to have a major impact on the way people travel across the UAE.
