Parents Working in Federal Roles Get 3 Hours Flexibility as Schools Reopen
As the 2026, 2027 academic year gets underway across the UAE, federal government workers are adjusting their morning routines for the initial return to classrooms. Parents heading into ministry offices and federal entity branches can shift their schedules around school start times to manage drop-offs.
Easing the First-Day School Drop-Off Across the Emirates
Federal employees with children in nurseries, primary schools, and higher grade levels can request up to three hours of flexible working time on the first day of school. This allowance lets parent-employees delay their morning arrival or leave early at the end of the day to accompany their children.
The three-hour window aims to ease local school-run traffic and give families extra time for first-day orientations. Individual federal entities process these schedule requests alongside existing remote and part-time work frameworks set by government human resources guidelines.
Under federal workplace policy, public department heads manage these modified schedules directly to maintain daily operational coverage while staff assist their families.
