The regulatory clearance covers residential connections, corporate and government entities, maritime services for vessels, and aviation connectivity for aircraft. In the aviation sector, the rollout paves the way for fast satellite internet integration across carriers like Emirates, which is expanding free WiFi routes and bringing the technology to its A380 fleet.
Interest among consumers has been swift, with hardware kits, flat packs containing the antenna, cable, and router, reportedly selling rapidly. That high demand has already created bottlenecks in major urban centres. As of August 31, customer address checks reveal that Dubai and Abu Dhabi are currently listed as being “at capacity.” For residents in those zones, direct activation is paused, and new customers must enter a waiting list by placing a tax-inclusive reservation deposit of Dh285.71.
