Nightly E611 Dubai-Sharjah Closures Hit Early Drivers Until Nov 15
If you drive the Dubai, Sharjah stretch of Emirates Road (E611) during the quietest hours of the night, your usual route just shut down until mid-November.
Daily 1am to 5am travel windows cut along the northbound E611 route
Etihad Rail launched a daily overnight closure affecting motorists moving from Dubai toward Sharjah. Traffic stops completely on this section between 1am and 5am every night. The temporary disruption started on Friday, October 30, and remains in place through Sunday, November 15, 2026.
The four-hour nightly window targets off-peak hours, but it alters early-morning routines across the interstate corridor. Shift workers, logistics operators, delivery drivers, and travellers bound for late-night airport connections will need to detour toward alternative routes or leave earlier.
rules apply to ongoing infrastructure works for the national rail network. Prior construction tied to the network involved a Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure partial closure towards Sharjah at Al Badea Bridge for a temporary bridge, as well as a two-month shutdown on local streets connecting Mleiha Road and Sharjah Ring Road near University Bridge.
Etihad Rail logged 120,000 passenger ticket sales across its network in its first 30 days of official operation connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah.
