As of 2 November 2026, Spanish authorities have identified 66 of the 69 people killed when a Renfe high-speed train collided with a stationary Iryo train near Urda, in Toledo province, on Wednesday 28 October 2026. The figures come from the Centro Integrado de Datos update of 1 November 2026, repeated in a statement by the Castilla-La Mancha high court on 2 November 2026.
Of the 66 identified, 54 were Spanish and 12 were foreign nationals: four from the United States and one each from Argentina, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Japan, Mexico, Portugal and Tunisia. The three people still unidentified are foreign nationals whose families have been located and are expected to travel to Spain. Missing-person cases are open for two Australians and one Japanese citizen.
Transport Minister Óscar Puente called the order given by the rail control centre after a computer failure had halted trains on the line “inexplicable”. The Spanish rail accident investigation body CIAF and the Guardia Civil are investigating that order.
