Israel Elections 2026 Final Results Due Today Amid Knesset Deadlock
Final legislative election results are scheduled to be presented to President Isaac Herzog today, November 4, 2026, following a fractured vote that left Israel’s 120-seat Knesset without a governing majority. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot now face weeks of detailed coalition negotiations or the prospect of a repeat election.
Divided Knesset Leaves Both Major Blocs Short of Majority Threshold
Last week’s legislative vote, the first held since the October 7, 2023 attack, divided the parliament across three distinct groups, denying any single faction the 61 seats required to command a majority. Netanyahu’s coalition of right-wing and far-right parties captured 53 seats, with his Likud party retaining its position as the largest faction with 27 seats. The centrist opposition bloc led by Eisenkot secured 48 seats. Meanwhile, Arab-Israeli parties Raam and the Joint List gained 19 seats combined after a sharp surge in voter turnout. Netanyahu remains in office as caretaker prime minister while the political impasse persists.
President Isaac Herzog will receive the certified results and begin formal consultations with party representatives, selecting a nominee who will have up to 42 days to form a government. If designated candidates fail to secure a coalition within a roughly 100-day window, the nation faces another round of elections. The new Knesset is scheduled to be sworn in on November 10.
Political tensions have escalated alongside the deadlock. Netanyahu’s Likud camp alleged that Raam received foreign funding from Qatar to influence the vote, prompting an investigation by the Shin Bet domestic security service. The electoral commission’s acting director general, Dean Livne, called suggestions of widespread irregularities groundless. Raam leader Mansour Abbas denied any wrongdoing, while Qatar termed the allegations dangerous and unfounded.
