Relief Ahead: UAE Weather September Drops Below 39°C As Autumn Begins
Residents stepping out onto neighborhood streets across Dubai and the wider Emirates are finally catching a tangible break from the relentless peak summer heat.
The shift marks a welcome change in daily routines after months of heavy afternoon thermal peaks. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, confirmed that meteorological autumn officially began on September 1, drawing the final curtain on summer’s climatological chapter.
Neighborhood thermometers will reflect the transition immediately. Daytime highs are projected to stay below 39°C through most of the month, while nighttime lows will dip beneath 27°C. For anyone running errands or commuting during the day, it is a noticeable step down from the steady 42°C-plus highs and 29°C overnight lows that defined July and August.
This seasonal division relies on average monthly temperatures across the Northern Hemisphere rather than the Earth’s orbital positioning. While meteorological autumn starts on the first day of September, astronomical autumn will follow later on September 23, when the sun’s position shifts relative to the equator.
The cooler pattern will continue to develop through October as the season progresses.
