Free iPhone 11 and Newer Upgrades Drop Sept 14 Across the UAE
UAE iPhone users can expect Apple‘s next major software rollout on Monday, September 14, bringing a free operating system update to existing handsets across the country without requiring a trip to the store.
What the September 14 Rollout Means for Your Daily Screen Time
The update is scheduled to go live as a free download, typically landing around 9pm UAE time based on Apple’s standard 10am Pacific Time release schedule. Server traffic usually spikes heavily during the first few hours, so anyone who does not see the update immediately should check back later that evening or the next morning.
Installing iOS 27 requires heading to Settings, then General, then Software Update on a backed-up device connected to Wi-Fi and power. Compatible handsets include the iPhone 11 and newer models, alongside the iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later.
While the software itself reaches a broad range of older devices, Apple’s most advanced AI additions remain restricted to specific hardware. Accessing full Apple Intelligence features requires an iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, or iPhone Air set to a supported language. AirPods 5 will also gain access to Apple Intelligence features on September 14 once paired with a compatible device running the new software.
For residents planning a hardware upgrade alongside the operating system refresh, pre-orders for Apple’s newest phones open on September 12. In the UAE, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at Dh5,099, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Dh5,499. Both models land in retail stores on September 18, sharing that launch date with the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. The company’s first foldable device, the iPhone Duo, is scheduled for a later release and will ship running iOS 27.1.
The iOS 27 update introduces a refined Liquid Glass visual design, expanded Siri functionality, carrier-supported iPhone Handoff capabilities, and updated parental controls.
