Apple's Sept 9 Launch Brings Foldable iPhone Ultra to UAE
Apple has scheduled its main hardware showcase for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, streaming live at 9pm UAE time. Titled ‘Surprise and Shine’, the event breaks away from traditional rollout patterns with a multi-year overhaul that changes which handsets hit shelves first.
Local buyers won’t be waiting long for initial stock. Because the UAE release aligns directly with global availability, the first batch of new devices is expected to arrive in local stores before the end of September. However, Apple is flipping its usual release calendar on its head by staggering which models drop first.
High-End Handsets Lead the Initial Rollout
If you were planning to pick up a standard base model, you’ll need to hold onto your current phone a bit longer. Apple is debuting only its three highest-tier devices this September: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a brand-new foldable device expected to be named the iPhone Ultra.
The standard iPhone 18 and a budget-friendly iPhone 18e are slated to arrive roughly six months later.
While official prices for the 18-series remain unconfirmed until Wednesday’s presentation, previous release tiers give buyers a clear benchmark for what to expect. When the iPhone 17 line arrived in September 2025, starting prices in the UAE sat at:

Pro Line Upgrades and Apple’s First Foldable Handset
The core design of the iPhone 18 Pro models closely resembles last year’s lineup, though the flagship Pro Max is slated to be Apple’s heaviest handset to date. Potential new colorways under evaluation include coffee and burgundy shades, while internal adjustments focus on under-screen Face ID integration.
The main focal point of the announcement remains Apple’s entry into the foldable hardware market.
Designed with a book-style hinge similar to competitors like the Galaxy Fold, the foldable model features a smaller external screen that opens to reveal a wider main display with no visible center crease.
On the back, the foldable device carries two 48MP sensors covering wide and ultra-wide angles, though it lacks a dedicated telephoto lens. On the front, it incorporates an industry-first 24-megapixel under-display camera. Additional key specifications include a return to Touch ID over Face ID and what is projected to be Apple’s longest battery life on any iPhone model yet.
