12 Low-Cost European Routes Open as Wizz Air Resumes UAE Flights

Wizz Air is resuming UAE services with 49 weekly flights across 12 regional and European routes, launching out of Dubai on October 25, 2026, and Abu Dhabi on October 27, 2026. The Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier announced the network expansion on its social media channels, targeting Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, and Amman for the winter travel season. Booking system data points to non-stop flights connecting the Emirates directly to Eastern and Central Europe, alongside several one-stop itineraries.

This network reset comes just over a year after Wizz Air Abu Dhabi wound down its operations. That previous local setup, formed in 2020 as a joint venture between Abu Dhabi state holding company ADQ (51 percent) and Wizz Air (49 percent), closed in 2025 under heavy operational strain. The airline cited a cluster of compounding pressures before shutting down: geopolitical instability, airspace closures, supply-chain bottlenecks, aircraft-engine maintenance delays, and regulatory blocks that prevented it from securing flight rights into India and Pakistan.

The initial schedule gives Abu Dhabi 18 weekly direct flights across five European cities, while Dubai‘s non-stop Budapest and Bucharest schedules account for 19 weekly flights. Wizz Air hasn’t specified whether these routes will be flown by its European-registered airlines or an entirely new local operating structure.
