Late-Night Sharjah Commutes Face 4-Hour Daily Emirates Road Diversions
Late-night drivers heading northbound on Emirates Road from Dubai into Sharjah face fresh roadworks starting tonight. A key section of the highway along the Dubai-to-Sharjah corridor is partially shutting down during the early hours to clear space for heavy Etihad Rail construction.
4-Hour Nightly Shutters on Dubai-to-Sharjah Lanes
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) confirmed that the partial closure targets traffic moving from Dubai towards Sharjah every night between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Scheduled from Friday, September 11, until Friday, September 18, 2026, the four-hour daily window aims to keep heavy infrastructure activity strictly contained within off-peak hours so regular daytime traffic can flow without interruption.
Drivers passing through this section of Emirates Road during the affected hours will encounter active work zones as track and bridge installation moves forward. SRTA urged motorists to lower their speed, strictly follow directional signage around the construction area, and allow extra journey time if traveling overnight.
SRTA apologised for the temporary inconvenience and thanked road users for their understanding while construction on the rail network proceeds.
