Umar Kremlev, head of the International Boxing Association and a recipient of Putin’s Order of Friendship, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to rent a private island and fund a fireworks show during the May wedding of Donald Trump Jr. and socialite Bettina Anderson. President Trump stated that while the oligarch initially hosted the celebration, his son is paying the money back.
The financial disclosures emerge as Russia remains at war with Ukraine following its invasion more than four years ago.
