Ugandan Travel Resumes as UAE Lifts June Visa Suspension
Nationals from the Republic of Uganda can now apply for entry into the UAE following an easing of precautionary measures put in place earlier this summer.
Updated Travel Rules for East African Visitors
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), working alongside the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), announced the decision after evaluating recent epidemiological updates. The review confirmed that Uganda successfully completed its required health monitoring period following an Ebola outbreak.
The initial entry restrictions were introduced on June 6, 2026, to protect public health across all entry points in the country. While rules have eased for Ugandan nationals after Ugandan Minister for Health Chris Baryomunsi declared the country free of the virus in late July, the safeguards remain unchanged for travellers coming from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan. Congolese health authorities reported more than 7,000 cases and nearly 3,400 deaths in their ongoing outbreak, keeping safety protocols in place for that region.
NCEMA, MoHAP, and ICP confirmed that public health conditions abroad remain under active monitoring, with travel measures subject to further review as risk assessments evolve.
