The UAE Embassy in Paris issued a safety advisory on Friday 23 October 2026 urging Emirati citizens in France to exercise caution, avoid crowded areas and follow the instructions of local authorities. The advisory covers the weekend, including Saturday 24 October 2026, when new demonstrations were expected in Paris and other French cities.
The embassy asked citizens to avoid gathering points, stay alert while travelling, register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Twajudi service and follow the embassy and ministry social media accounts for updates. Emiratis who need emergency help abroad can contact the ministry’s hotline, listed as +971 800 24.
The unrest began last month with student protests over school conditions, including teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and run-down facilities, and spread into nationwide rallies that later merged with protests over the cost of living. Last weekend the demonstrations turned violent, with rioting, vandalism, arson and looting reported in several cities. On Thursday 22 October 2026, President Emmanuel Macron said that protests he described as illegitimate would be banned in the coming days, and bans on some demonstrations have been put in place in several French cities.
What remains open is how long the restrictions on protests will last, and whether the demonstrations expected on Saturday 24 October pass peacefully. The embassy’s and the ministry’s social media accounts are where any updated guidance for Emiratis in France would appear.
