Vampire Tale Geumwoldo Marks Seo Yea-ji’s Cinema Return
South Korean actress Seo Yea-ji will return to the big screen for the first time in five years, leading the upcoming occult horror film *Geumwoldo*. Production agency B.Wave Entertainment announced the casting on November 4, 2026, setting up a new release for cinema audiences and fans of Korean thrillers.
Filming Starts Mid-November Ahead of 2027 Theatrical Launch
Principal photography begins in mid-November 2026, with the production targeting a 2027 theatrical release. Seo plays Kim Ji Hoo, a woman who travels to a secluded island following a summons from her mother, only to encounter an inward-looking community linked to unexplained events. The narrative adapts a case documented in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, specifically a court record of cannibalism, and reshapes the historical text into a Korean vampire origin story. Director Baek Dong Hoon, previously known for the culinary drama *Le Grand Chef 2: Kimchi Battle*, leads the project.
The film represents Seo’s first feature film role since the 2021 thriller *Recalled*. After starring in the 2022 television drama *Eve*, she stepped away from screen acting before making her stage debut as Yun Sim Deok in *The Hymn of Death* at Seoul’s Sejong Center in 2026 and signing with B.Wave Entertainment in July.
