2009 Disney Nostalgia Is Back With a Limited Rare Beauty Drop
Stepping into the new Rare Beauty campaign feels like a direct transport back to 2008 Disney Channel. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have officially reunited to launch a nostalgic drop for the cosmetics brand, recreating their iconic poster from the 2009 movie *Princess Protection Program*. Posing side-by-side in updated versions of the original blue and yellow gowns worn by their characters, Carter Mason and Princess Rosalinda, the pair turned a simple beauty commercial into a massive cultural throwback.
The reunion anchors Rare Beauty’s new *Still Making Each Other Blush* campaign. Central to the launch is the limited-edition “Delena” blush bundle, named after the moniker given to the duo by fans during their early Disney days. The set packs two liquid blush shades personally selected by Gomez and Lovato, alongside an included makeup brush.
Beyond the photoshoot, the nostalgia run goes deeper into their shared past. The duo remade scenes from *The Demi and Selena Show*, the casual YouTube vlog series they filmed together back in 2008. In the newly released footage, the longtime friends sit together trying out products, answering questions, and lip-syncing to *One and the Same*, their original duet from the 2009 film soundtrack.
First meeting as child actors on the set of *Barney & Friends*, both stars built parallel careers with Disney, Gomez leading *Wizards of Waverly Place* while Lovato starred in *Camp Rock* and *Sonny with a Chance*. Though their friendship experienced periods of distance over the years, the two have reconnected publicly in recent months, with Gomez attending the opening night of Lovato’s *It’s Not That Deep* tour in Orlando earlier this year.
