1.6 Million Residents Connect as Grassroots Neighborhood Groups Expand
Across running tracks, outdoor hiking routes, and neighborhood gathering spaces, more than 1.6 million participants have engaged with the MyDubai Communities ecosystem. The informal network brings together residents, visitors, and citizens across shared interest groups ranging from morning fitness runs to technology mentorship circles.
Weekly Meet-Ups and Sports Groups Reshape Local Social Routines
The expansion of grassroots clubs is altering how residents build daily connections outside work and home. Experiential wellness group Breasy has drawn more than 30,000 participants over the past two years, with weekly sessions pulling between 300 and 400 people for morning breathwork and group runs. Nearby outdoor networks, including The Hike & Co and YMK Sports Community, host weekly sessions that bring together participants from more than 45 nationalities.
Professional associations are filling a similar role in local career networks. Women in Tech Dubai has grown to up to 1,000 members across technology, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, running hackathons and mentorship circles that directly yield job referrals and project partnerships.
First launched in April 2025 under the vision of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the initiative evolved from the original #MyDubai platform started in 2014. In 2026, designated as the Year of the Family, the system aligns directly with official living-standard benchmarks. The growth supports the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which sets a direct target for Dubai to rank among the world’s top three cities in living standards.
