1,253 Arrested in Kuwait Security Sweep
The Kuwait Ministry of Interior has launched a security sweep in the Al Jleeb area, resulting in the detention of 1,253 individuals for residency, labor, and security violations. The campaign, led by Undersecretary Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al Wahaib, also uncovered 36 children born out of wedlock accompanying their mothers.
The Ministry of Interior stated that the campaign aims to enforce labor and residency laws, eliminate illegal housing occupancies, and restore public security. The operation has also prompted other government agencies to take action, including the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, which disconnected power from around 1,200 illegally occupied homes in Farwaniya Governorate, resulting in a 60% decrease in electricity loads.
The security sweep is part of an integrated field plan to maintain public security and order, prevent further breaches, and improve the quality of life in the area. The Ministry of Interior will continue to inspect vacated residential properties and monitor attempts to breach security measures or violate decisions issued by competent authorities.
The campaign will continue across other areas identified for violations, with those detained referred to the relevant authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior is working alongside other government agencies to ensure the success of the operation.
