Lufthansa Extends Dubai and Abu Dhabi Flight Suspensions
For UAE travellers relying on European carriers for upcoming trips, direct connections are off the table for a bit longer. The Lufthansa Group issued an update confirming that local departures and arrivals remain on hold while the carrier navigates operational hurdles and regional security monitoring.
Alternative Routings Required for UAE Passengers
Lufthansa, SWISS, and Eurowings are keeping their Dubai services grounded through October 24. Passengers booked on these routes will need to look at alternative airlines and routings to reach Europe in the interim. Over in the capital, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, and Edelweiss are enforcing the exact same October 24 cutoff for Abu Dhabi flights.
Relief is further out for the capital, as Eurowings has left its Abu Dhabi return date unannounced, though the carrier plans to resume Dubai flights starting November 1. Beyond the UAE, the group’s suspensions hit Beirut, Dammam, and Muscat through October 24, alongside Erbil and Tehran through October 31.
While local routes stay paused, a gradual return is beginning elsewhere in the network. Lufthansa kicks off Frankfurt-Riyadh flights three times a week on September 10, while Frankfurt-Amman goes daily on October 25 and Vienna-Amman restarts three times weekly on October 2. Because the regional situation remains dynamic, the Lufthansa Group urges travellers to verify individual flight statuses before heading to the airport.
