Oleshky Ceasefire Clears Way for Abu Dhabi Peace Talks Next Month
Russia and Ukraine agreed to a temporary humanitarian ceasefire in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky starting at 4:00 AM local time (0100 GMT) on October 27, 2026. Military forces from both nations will halt operations to allow essential aid deliveries, road demining, and civilian evacuations from the front-line area.
Abu Dhabi Technical Talks Set for November Following Brokered Agreement
Demining teams will clear access routes into Oleshky to enable food transport and facilitate safe civilian passage out of the front-line town. Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets confirmed the humanitarian corridor will open alongside the operational pause, while Ukrainian, Russian, and US representatives prepare for technical-level peace talks scheduled for early November in Abu Dhabi or Switzerland.
Previous American-led peace negotiations stalled in February without producing diplomatic progress toward ending the four-and-a-half-year conflict.
