Galaxy S27 Camera Leaks: What to Expect from Samsung's Next Flagship
The Samsung Galaxy S27 series is expected to bring significant changes to the camera department, with leaked prototype details suggesting the use of Sony camera sensors and a four-device lineup. This would be a major departure from Samsung’s traditional use of its own ISOCELL sensors. The leaks indicate that the higher-end models, such as the rumoured S27 Pro and Ultra, could feature 50MP ultrawide lenses and 16MP autofocus selfie cameras.
The standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ are expected to use a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide, and a telephoto camera of unknown resolution. In contrast, the S27 Pro and Ultra are rumoured to pack a 200MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide, with the Ultra’s main sensor reportedly being a customized version of Samsung‘s upcoming ISOCELL HPA. The S27 Pro is also expected to use Samsung’s ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom.
It’s worth noting that these leaks describe configurations Samsung is testing, not a final spec sheet. The exact Sony sensor in the base S27/S27+ is still unconfirmed, and reports disagree on whether the Ultra keeps one telephoto camera or two. Samsung has walked back similar Sony-sensor rumours before, so it’s essential to stay skeptical until Samsung actually confirms anything, expected around launch in February 2027.
The introduction of a “Pro” tier, slotting between the Plus and Ultra, would be a new development for this generation. This could indicate a more significant differentiation between the models, with the Pro tier offering more advanced camera features. The use of Sony sensors, if confirmed, could also bring changes to the way the camera handles colour and dynamic range.
As the launch of the Galaxy S27 series approaches, it’s clear that Samsung is evaluating hardware prototypes to improve image processing, dynamic range, and tier differentiation. While the leaks provide an exciting glimpse into the potential features of the Galaxy S27 series, it’s essential to wait for official confirmation from Samsung before getting too excited.
