Iran Threatens Sanctions on Ships Entering New Hormuz Prohibited Zone

New Maritime Boundaries Extend From US Blockade Lines into Persian Gulf
Iran‘s Supreme National Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei confirmed on state television that any vessel identified entering the newly mapped area with the intention of transiting the strait will be added to Tehran’s national sanctions list. Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has already dropped to its lowest level since May following recent military engagements in the waterway.
The security directive follows US strikes on three Iranian oil tankers after Tehran launched ballistic missiles at American warships in the region.
