Bullet Strikes US Consulate in Toronto
Shots were fired at the US Consulate in Toronto early Monday, with a bullet striking the facade, though no one was injured. Toronto police’s counterterrorism unit has joined the investigation into the incident, which involved a white sedan fleeing a high-speed chase. The sedan, which had no license plates, was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting, prompting a brief but dangerous chase that was quickly discontinued due to the suspect vehicle’s high speed.
The area around the consulate was cordoned off, and shell casings were found. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing. This is the second shooting near the diplomatic compound in four months, following a “national security incident” on March 10 where two men fired multiple shots at the consulate. Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested in June as part of the investigation into that shooting.
