Petrol Tops Dh4.40 as Oil Volatility Weighs on November Rates
UAE petrol and diesel rates face potential upward pressure ahead of the official November 2026 price adjustment after international Brent crude surged past $116 a barrel, directly impacting commercial transport fleets and motorists across the emirates. The benchmark traded at $110.12 a barrel on Monday after retreating 1.4 percent from Friday’s peak of $116.72, though overall October trading levels remain significantly elevated above the sub-$97 figures seen at the start of the month.
Crude Benchmarks Maintain Upward Trajectory Despite Recent Retreat
Motorists currently pay Dh4.40 per litre for Super 98, Dh4.28 for Special 95, and Dh4.21 for E-Plus 91, following a 16 percent price jump in October that brought a 60-litre tank of Special 95 to Dh256.80. Diesel stands at Dh4.80 per litre after an 11.6 percent rise last month. An additional 10-fils adjustment in November would add Dh6 to the cost of filling a 60-litre tank, whereas a 20-fils increase would add Dh12. Current retail petrol prices sit 23 to 24 fils below the all-time high set in July 2022, when Super 98 reached Dh4.63 per litre, Special 95 hit Dh4.52, and E-Plus touched Dh4.44.
Global oil transportation costs have risen from approximately $3 per barrel last year to more than $20, with shipping disruption surcharges pushing rates on specific Middle East routes as high as $35 per barrel.
