What September Fuel Rates Mean for Your Next Tank Fill
Motorists across the country are watching pump meters today, August 31, 2026, as the UAE Fuel Price Committee prepares to announce official petrol and diesel rates for September.
What September Rates Mean at the Pump
August rates currently stand at Dh3.60 per litre for Super 98, Dh3.49 for Special 95, Dh3.41 for E-Plus 91, and Dh3.80 for diesel. Filling a 60-litre tank with Special 95 costs Dh209.40 from empty, while an 80-litre tank runs Dh279.20.
A price shift of 10 fils per litre alters a 60-litre fill by Dh6 and an 80-litre fill by Dh8. If rates fall by 20 fils, savings reach Dh12 on a 60-litre tank and Dh16 on an 80-litre fill.
Global crude oil markets experienced notable volatility throughout August. Brent crude opened the month at $83.77 a barrel on August 3, dipped below $80 in the first week, and rallied to $94.39 by August 21 before falling back. It settled at $89.31 on Friday, dropping over 5% during the month’s final full trading week amid reports of progress regarding shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite that late drop, Brent’s average closing price for August remained near $87.70, higher than July’s average of roughly $83.46. Because the UAE market-linked pricing policy, introduced in August 2015, benchmarks against international refined product levels over several weeks alongside operating and transport costs, crude drops don’t translate immediately into identical cuts at local petrol stations.
The UAE Fuel Price Committee updates retail rates each month to align domestic fuel costs with global energy market trends.
