Paperwork Axed as Instant WPS Upgrade Streamlines Private Sector Salaries
Employers across the UAE can now manage company payrolls without filling out physical forms or stepping into a bank branch.
Instant Payouts and Zero Paperwork for Employers
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), working with the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) and national payments operator Al Etihad Payments, has rolled out an upgraded version of the Wage Protection System (WPS). The new digital platform connects MoHRE’s central database directly to participating financial institutions. Under the updated process, registration happens instantly online because participating systems read employer data directly from official ministry records.
The change removes the requirement for business owners and administration teams to submit physical documentation or make in-person visits to financial institutions to set up wage protection accounts. Instead, real-time data sharing between MoHRE and banks tracks salary transfer movements automatically. The system update is currently expanding across strategic financial partners, including First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Emirates NBD, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), Mashreq Bank, Ajman Bank, Lari Exchange, and First Gulf Exchange Centre.
For employees, the upgraded network is designed to protect wage delivery schedules and improve salary tracking accuracy. The broader system currently covers more than 99 per cent of private-sector workers nationwide, processing over Dh35 billion in total monthly transfers.
The direct electronic link remains active across all participating institutions to maintain continuous payroll verification.
