Dubai flying taxis
Dubai is pioneering flying taxis as part of its ambition to lead the future of urban mobility. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with global aviation firms like Joby Aviation and Volocopter, has been testing autonomous air taxis since 2017.
These electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles are designed to reduce traffic congestion and cut travel times across the city. The service is expected to connect major hubs such as Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Dubai International Airport (DXB).
Flying taxis are part of Dubai’s Smart Mobility Strategy 2030, which aims for 25% of trips to be conducted via autonomous vehicles. Once launched commercially, they will make Dubai the first city in the world to operate regular flying taxi services.
