Jaywan-Mastercard Credit Card: What Has Been Announced

On 21 July 2026, Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE, and Mastercard announced what they call the world’s first Jaywan-Mastercard co-badged credit card. A co-badged card carries two payment brands, so it can run on the national Jaywan scheme for domestic payments and on the Mastercard network where global acceptance is needed. What is confirmed

• The partnership enables Jaywan co-badged credit cards with global acceptance.
• Mastercard will set up a new network node in the UAE to process domestic and international payment flows.
• A new Mastercard operations centre in the UAE will provide payment services to local and regional markets.
• The infrastructure will support Jaywan debit, prepaid and credit co-badged cards, with cybersecurity, fraud prevention and threat intelligence tools.

What it means for you

Nothing changes for your cards today. Jaywan credit cards were still listed as coming soon after the scheme launched in July 2026. When your bank offers one, check the annual fee, the interest rate and whether the card works abroad on the Mastercard side before you apply. Ask whether you pay any extra charge for overseas use.
