The UAE sets an age limit on sponsoring sons, but not daughters. Under Cabinet Resolution No. 65 of 2022, which took effect on 5 September 2022, a resident can sponsor sons up to age 25. Unmarried daughters can be sponsored at any age, and children with special needs have no age cap.

Start the next step early. Options usually include moving him to his own work or student residence visa, or, if he is studying full-time, asking the immigration authority whether he can stay under your sponsorship. The student exception is reported by the press but is not spelled out on the u.ae page, so check with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) or a typing centre before relying on it.
