Abu Dhabi Police has set a Dh15 daily fee for its smart vehicle impound service, allowing drivers to keep impounded cars at a location of their choice instead of sending them to an official impound yard.

Vehicles Covered by the Smart Impound Option

The service applies to light vehicles, heavy vehicles, trucks, and buses involved in traffic violations that carry an impoundment penalty.

If a vehicle is ordered impounded, the owner or an authorised representative holding an official power of attorney can use this option to keep physical custody of the vehicle at home or another approved spot for the duration of the penalty.

How to Complete the Process

1. Submit an application through the TAMM government services platform or at a customer service centre.
2. Select the vehicle and its related traffic violations, then pay the required fee.
3. Attend in person with your Emirates ID, or send an authorised representative with a power of attorney, to sign a formal declaration accepting the service conditions.
4. Take the vehicle to a customer service centre so an employee can install the smart tracking device inside.

Once installed, the electronic device keeps the vehicle immobilised at your chosen address. If anyone moves the vehicle from the approved site, the device sends an immediate alert to the police monitoring room, recording the violation instantly.
