DXB Passport Checks Drop to 12 Seconds With Mobile System
Travelers passing through Dubai International Airport are seeing their departure and entry lines move a bit faster, following a rollout that puts passport control right in the officer’s hand.
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) officially deployed its “Click and Travel” service following an airport press conference led by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri and Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti, alongside senior officials. The system equips passport officers with mobile devices capable of clearing passengers in just 12 to 15 seconds using biometrics and facial recognition.
For anyone catching a flight out of Terminal 3 or arriving through other local terminals, the routine has shifted since the initial pilot kicked off in October 2025. That first test phase paved the way for a broader rollout in May 2026 that expanded the mobile clearance to all passenger categories across airport terminals, culminating in the official launch.
The service covers UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals, and visitors alike, cutting down bottlenecks during peak travel times without requiring travelers to queue at traditional fixed counters for standard checks.
