Passengers heading to Dubai International Airport, Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah International Airport face another morning of altered flight schedules on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Operational adjustments and regional factors continue to ripple through terminal departures across the Emirates, alongside flight cancellations caused by volcanic ash from Indonesia’s Mount Anak Krakatau.
Four-Hour Terminal Buffers Issued for Departing Travelers
Travelers departing through Dubai are advised to build at least a four-hour buffer before their scheduled departure time, according to passenger guidance issued by flydubai. Airline operators across the hubs are asking passengers to complete online check-in prior to arrival and double-check flight status updates before making the trip to airport drop-off zones.
Route adjustments are hitting regional Gulf routes unevenly across carriers. Etihad Airways continues to operate the majority of its Abu Dhabi flights to Bahrain and Kuwait normally, though flight EY653 to Kuwait experienced a late departure. Meanwhile, Air Arabia canceled flights G9068 and G9124 from Sharjah to Kuwait, as well as flight G9107 to Bahrain. From Abu Dhabi, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi canceled flight 3L020 to Kuwait, while flight 3L015 to Bahrain saw a schedule revision and flight 3L017 remained delayed on the tarmac.
Farther afield, long-haul routes are coping with localized delays and suspensions. Emirates canceled flights EK356, EK357, and EK359 between Dubai and Jakarta on September 8 due to volcanic ash clouds over Indonesia, mirroring Etihad’s cancellation of flight EY475 to Jakarta and earlier delays on flights EY472 and EY473. European and long-distance connections have also felt the strain, with Air France extending its full flight suspension into Dubai through September 10. Delay lists out of Zayed International Airport include Etihad and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi routes to destinations such as Amsterdam, Manchester, Cairo, Kochi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Yerevan, Tbilisi, and Almaty, alongside minor schedule pushes on Emirates services to Perth, Montreal, Kolkata, Newcastle, and London Gatwick.
Air France has confirmed its Dubai flight suspensions will remain in effect through September 10 as airlines continue monitoring regional conditions.
