Red Line's Onpassive Stop Renamed Garmin Metro Station in 10-Year Deal
If you take the Dubai Metro Red Line along Sheikh Zayed Road, your daily stop has a new name on the map. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially renamed Onpassive Metro Station to Garmin Metro Station. The change comes after RTA finalized a 10-year naming rights agreement through AMIT Retail LLC, Garmin’s sole distributor in the UAE.
Updated Maps for Sheikh Zayed Road Transit
Commuters who have ridden this stretch for years will recognize the station under a few different names. The stop originally operated as Al Safa Metro Station before changing to Onpassive in 2023. Audio updates and physical signage across the network now reflect the Garmin name, marking the second rebranding for this specific Red Line location in three years.
The update fits into RTA’s corporate partnership initiative, which began in 2009 to leverage high passenger footfall across major commercial corridors. In 2025 alone, four key Red Line stops changed names: GGICO became Al Garhoud, Al Khail changed to Al Fardan Exchange, UAE Exchange shifted to Life Pharmacy, and Jebel Ali was renamed National Paints.
For daily rail passengers, system maps now show updated corporate branding across both major routes. The Dubai Metro network spans 55 total stops, 35 on the Red Line and 20 on the Green Line, including nine underground stations.
Red Line trains continue serving key hubs along Sheikh Zayed Road, connecting Centrepoint near Dubai International Airport to commercial destinations like Business Bay, DMCC, and Sobha Realty. At Jebel Ali Metro Station, the line splits toward Expo 2020 and Life Pharmacy, with direct trains operating from Centrepoint to both end destinations without requiring a train transfer.
Physical signage and digital network maps across all 55 stations are being updated to reflect the new Garmin brand name.
