Airstrikes and Air-Raid Sirens Follow Strikes on King Khalid Airbase
Civil defence authorities issued air-raid alerts across six Saudi regions before clearing them early Tuesday after Houthi forces targeted the King Khalid airbase in Khamis Mushait with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones. Residents in Khamis Mushait reported hearing intense explosions followed by fires that burned for hours, while the coalition stated it would take all necessary operational measures to protect kingdom sovereignty.
The strikes follow a sharp military expansion since Yemen‘s civil war reignited in July, when Houthi forces declared a maritime blockade on Riyadh and subsequently seized Yemen’s Red Sea coast and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
