Kim Kardashian Awarded €1 Damages Over $6 Million Paris Heist
A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian a symbolic €1 in civil damages nearly ten years after thieves held her at gunpoint and stole more than $6 million in jewellery. The ruling settles civil claims arising from the armed robbery at the Hôtel de Pourtalès during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, establishing formal compensation for the victims and businesses involved.
Court Directs Cash Awards to Hotel Staff and Property
Kardashian requested the nominal one-euro sum specifically to seek legal accountability rather than financial restitution. Former stylist and friend Simone Harouche, who was inside the hotel suite during the incident, was also awarded €1 in symbolic compensation. Larger monetary payouts were directed to hotel personnel and property management, with the court awarding €109,516 to a former receptionist for emotional trauma and €50,000 directly to the Hôtel de Pourtalès.
During the 2016 raid, men disguised as police officers entered the suite, bound Kardashian with tape and zip ties, and fled with high-value items including a diamond engagement ring worth approximately $4 million given by her former husband, Kanye West. Most of the stolen items were never recovered.
The civil damages ruling follows the criminal proceedings of May 2025, when French authorities convicted eight people for their roles in the heist. Dubbed the “grandpa robbers” due to several defendants being in their 60s and 70s during the trial, the group received various sentences, including a three-year prison term for ringleader Aomar Aït Khedache. None of the convicted men served additional prison time after the verdict due to credit for time spent in pretrial detention, and none filed an appeal.
