Doha denies Gaza aid diversion to Hamas following Israeli media claims

International relief agencies and diplomatic channels coordinating Gaza assistance are facing renewed scrutiny as Doha denied transferring funds directly to Hamas.

In a statement issued on September 18, 2026, the International Media Office affirmed that Qatar has never provided direct financial support to Hamas. Humanitarian assistance, comprising financial aid, food, medicine, and fuel, was distributed into Gaza by United Nations organizations under oversight and mechanisms coordinated directly with Israeli authorities and security agencies.
Doha noted that its aid programs operated for years across successive Israeli governments with explicit public endorsement from Israeli leaders, adding that any funding reaching Hamas outside established UN and Israeli mechanisms had no connection to Qatar. The International Media Office criticized far-right Israeli political figures for attempting to use the accusations as a convenient scapegoat to deflect from domestic political issues ahead of upcoming elections, adding that Doha would not remain silent over false claims used for political purposes.
Doha reaffirmed that the allegations would not alter its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to Palestinians or its ongoing mediation efforts to promote regional peace and security.
