5 Dubai Roads Change Speed Limits This November
Nov. 1 brings a wave of operational changes across the UAE, spanning adjusted driving speeds, expanded transit links, and new regulations for animal healthcare. Here is everything taking effect across the country this November.
1. Five Dubai roads get revised speed limits
Speed limits on five major thoroughfares across Dubai shift on November 1. Two roads will see lower limits to improve safety, while three will see increases to ease traffic flow.
The reduced speed zones include:
- Al Rebat Street: Lowered from 100 km/h to 90 km/h between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
- Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street: Lowered from 80 km/h to 70 km/h between 2nd December Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street.
- Al Asayel Street: Raised from 60 km/h to 80 km/h between Oud Maitha Street and Al Meydan Street.
- Al Mustaqbal Street: Raised from 60 km/h to 70 km/h between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Meydan Street.
- Latifa bint Hamdan Street: Raised from 60 km/h to 70 km/h between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.
2. Nationwide ban on veterinary ciprofloxacin takes effect
A total ban on the veterinary use of ciprofloxacin comes into force on November 1 across all Emirates. The restriction prohibits both finished veterinary medicines and raw materials containing the antibiotic.
The policy directly impacts veterinary clinics, livestock managers, and pharmaceutical suppliers dealing with animal healthcare products, aiming to curb antimicrobial resistance nationwide.
3. Al Ruwayyah winter camping capacity expands by 120%
Dubai Municipality opens registration for the 2026, 2027 winter camping season at Al Ruwayyah, running from November 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027. Camping capacity has been boosted to 600 plots, incorporating dedicated caravan spaces alongside daily rental setups. UAE nationals can reserve their camping permits directly through the official Dubai Municipality online portal.
4. Etihad Rail opens two new passenger stations in Abu Dhabi
Etihad Rail brings forward the launch of two passenger stations in the Al Dhafra region, officially opening sites in Zayed City and Liwa on November 30. Timed to match the start of the western region’s festival season, the new stops extend passenger rail access across Abu Dhabi’s western territory.
5. UAE Flag Day marked on November 3
The UAE observes Flag Day on Tuesday, November 3, with flag-raising ceremonies held across government entities, schools, and private businesses. The national event does not carry a public holiday, meaning private sector offices, schools, and transit schedules operate on standard weekday hours.
6. Dubai Fitness Challenge returns with major street closures
The annual Dubai Fitness Challenge runs from October 31 through November 29, encouraging 30 minutes of daily activity across 30 days. Two main active events will trigger temporary street diversions:
- Dubai Ride (November 1): Converts primary road corridors into temporary cycling routes.
- Dubai Run (November 22): Closes main arterial roads for thousands of runners.
