Dh539 AirPods 5 Bring Upgraded Noise Cancellation to UAE Stores
Dubai tech shoppers tracking the latest mobile accessories can officially lock in their upgrades this week, as Apple rolls out its newest baseline earbuds across the market.
Apple has priced the base AirPods 5 at Dh539, bringing Active Noise Cancellation into its most accessible audio tier for the first time. According to the manufacturer, the redesigned acoustic architecture removes up to 50% more external noise than the preceding AirPods 4 equipped with ANC. Pre-orders are open right now, with the physical units landing in UAE stores on Friday, September 18.
For buyers looking for expanded utility, a second version featuring a Wireless Charging Case hits the market at Dh629. This step-up model introduces physical volume swipe controls directly onto the stem, allowing users to slide a finger up or down to adjust levels without pulling out a phone.
Battery and Acoustic Upgrades
The Dh629 wireless charging variant pushes single-charge playback up to five hours with Active Noise Cancellation switched on, marking a one-hour improvement over previous generation models. When paired with its charging case, total listening time climbs to 22 hours. The case itself accommodates USB-C connections alongside Qi-compatible wireless mats and Apple Watch chargers.
Under the hood, Apple built the earbuds around a new multiport acoustic architecture paired with next-generation Adaptive EQ, designed to optimize sound across different ear shapes. The hardware also packs improved resistance against sweat, dust, and water.
Listening modes have received functional updates as well. Transparency mode is tuned to reproduce nearby voices and ambient sounds more naturally, while Adaptive Audio dynamically shifts between ANC and Transparency based on the surrounding environment. Conversation Awareness also steps in automatically, lowering media volume the moment the wearer starts talking to someone nearby.
Software Integration and Siri AI
To tap into advanced features like Live Translation, users must pair the earbuds with a compatible Apple device running the latest operating system software, alongside an active Apple Intelligence setup in a supported region and language.
Apple Intelligence itself deploys via iOS 27 on Monday, September 14, for supported devices and languages. Siri AI rolls out in beta on that same date for English-configured systems, while French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish language support follows in October. Personalised Spatial Audio and hands-free Siri responses via head gestures round out the feature set for everyday use.
