Fraud Reports Fall Across Dubai Following Multi-Agency Scam Crackdown
Gathered at the Dubai Police Officers Club, local officials shared a welcome shift for residents across the emirate this week: fraud reports dropped compared to the previous year.
Fewer Scams Reaching Neighborhoods as 25 Entities Join Forces
The downward trend comes on the heels of coordinated community outreach involving more than 25 government and semi-government partners under the Be Aware of Fraud campaign. Announced at the Aware Family Anti-Fraud Forum during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the initiative leans heavily on institutional cooperation to help households spot trickery before money changes hands.
Behind the scenes, the General Department of Criminal Investigation points to structural upgrades in how authorities tackle financial crime. The dedicated Anti-Fraud Centre, set up two years ago, has tightened up the tracking of criminal patterns and sped up response times for residents filing complaints.
Specialized panels at the forum featured security leads from organizations like the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation breaking down common cyber threats and digital safety protocols for local customers.
The multi-agency push continues to roll out practical scam-prevention guidance across local institutions and digital networks.
