AED 500 Fine: Dubai Police Catch 48,950 Expired Registrations
Driving with an expired vehicle registration in Dubai carries an AED 500 fine and four black points on your driver’s record.
Dubai Police have cracked down heavily on lapsed paperwork, logging 48,950 violations during the first 10 months of the year. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, pointed out that January recorded the highest number of offenses at 6,977. February followed closely with 6,768 cases, while March registered 6,573.
The penalty goes beyond a simple ticket if you let things slide too long. If your vehicle registration has been expired for more than three months, Dubai Police will impound the car for seven days.
Brigadier bin Suwaidan warned that skipping regular technical inspections and insurance renewals does more than invite fines. It increases the likelihood of unexpected mechanical failures on the road and exposes drivers to severe financial and legal liabilities if they get into an accident with invalid insurance.
