Paramedics treated the 34-year-old Argentina international on the field before hospital staff evaluated him for a concussion and treated a jaw injury sustained in the collision with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Following the surgery, Martinez confirmed the operation went well, noting that recovery will take several weeks while 21-year-old Belgian youth international Mike Penders takes over in goal after making his Premier League debut.
