38 Filipino Workers Arrive in Manila on Voluntary Saudi Return Flight
📣 ARTICLE HEADLINE
Thirty-eight overseas Filipino workers arrived safely at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Manila on the evening of November 6 aboard Qatar Airways flight QR 928, evacuated from Saudi Arabia amid mounting Middle East tensions. Returning Filipino citizens received special financial aid, free meals, temporary accommodation, and local transport to their home provinces through government assistance.
Government targets assistance for 290 more workers returning before November 11
The Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration confirmed the operation forms part of the “Saving Lives” programme under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s UPLIFT initiative to protect nationals affected by regional security risks. Authority officials expect around 290 additional Filipino workers to arrive in the Philippines in the coming days as voluntary evacuations continue through November 11. Citizens seeking evacuation support can reach their nearest Migrant Workers Office, the Philippine Embassy, or call the 24/7 DMW-OWWA hotline at 1348.
The latest arrival follows an earlier government airlift on October 26 that brought 117 workers back from Saudi Arabia, following an October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that left two Filipino workers in intensive care.
