
High-Rise Elevator Delays Targeted in Dubai Autonomous Robot Pilot
Talabat partnered with Singapore-based robotics company Quik on September 7, 2026, to test autonomous delivery robots inside high-rise buildings in Dubai Silicon Oasis. High-rise occupants and food delivery riders in commercial hubs face shortened wait times as autonomous units take over building access and elevator travel.
QuikBot Platform Uses One-Time Passwords for Final-Leg Doorstep Deliveries
Under the trial at Dubai Digital Park’s A6 commercial building, delivery drivers drop incoming orders off at a designated handover point in the lobby. A QuikBot unit then takes the order, travels through the building’s elevators independently via Quik’s QuikSync platform, which assigns digital identities to manage interactions with doors and lifts, and completes the final delivery to the unit door, where recipients collect their packages using a one-time password. Offloading lobby check-ins, elevator waits, and floor-to-floor transit keeps delivery drivers free to take on additional routes without entering the structure.
Talabat UAE Vice-President and Managing Director Simonida Subotic confirmed the pilot evaluates how autonomous units manage elevator journeys and door-to-door routes during active operations. QuikBot founder and Chief Executive Officer Alan Ng stated that securing lobby access and automated elevator routes remains a critical factor in automating high-rise logistics.
The trials build on Quik’s active autonomous delivery operations across Singapore and the UAE as both firms evaluate potential deployment across Talabat’s wider service area.
