iDeclare Dubai: Declare Cash and Goods Online
iDeclare is the Dubai Customs app for travellers arriving in Dubai. You can self-declare personal items, commercial goods or cash either before you reach the airport or after you arrive, which Dubai Customs says reduces waiting times. Passengers who use the airport’s red channel are making a declaration, while the green channel is for travellers with nothing to declare.
What You Should Declare
| Item | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Cash, foreign currency and traveller’s cheques | AED 60,000 or more in total |
| Gifts | Value above AED 3,000 |
| Jewellery, gold, silver and other precious metals | Declare |
| Tobacco | More than 400 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 500 grams |
| Alcohol | More than 4 litres, or 2 cartons of beer |
| Electronic cigarettes and vaporisers | Declare |
| Commercial goods, samples and advertisements | Declare |
Items That May Be Prohibited or Restricted
Dubai Customs lists medicines, firearms and weapons, drugs, drones, satellite phones and illegal material as possibly prohibited. Plants, seeds, insects, meats, animals, wildlife products, disease agents, cell cultures and snails may be restricted. Check the rules before you pack, because an item that needs permission can be held at the border.
How to Use the App
- Download iDeclare from the App Store or Google Play.
- Check your eligibility and select the items you are bringing into the UAE.
- Register with your passport and personal details.
- Create a declaration and choose its type, such as goods or currency import.
- Enter your flight number, arrival date and the other details requested, and upload relevant documents.
Declare accurately, because the app is a convenience and not an exemption from the thresholds. Planning to ship goods instead? See the Dubai Customs e-commerce exemption.
