AED 1,000 E-commerce Exemption: Dubai Customs Cuts Duty on Low-Value Imports

Dubai Customs has announced amendments to its customs procedures for cross-border e-commerce, exempting goods and products valued at AED 1,000 or less from customs duties under Customs Declaration No. (16) of 2026. This move aims to enhance the competitiveness of the business environment, support the growth of the e-commerce sector, attract more investment, reduce costs, and improve the efficiency of trade operations.

The new exemptions apply to cross-border e-commerce goods, with the exception of certain products such as tobacco and its derivatives, electronic smoking devices and accessories, and nicotine liquids. Additionally, the amendment includes new facilities for goods returned for personal purposes through consumer-oriented e-commerce companies, where they are exempt from customs duties if it is proven that the duties have already been paid on them, provided that they are returned within 60 days from the date of their departure.

The Customer Happiness Department will be responsible for registering companies or adding their activities in the customer registration system, as part of regulating the relationship with companies operating in the e-commerce sector.
