Sylvester Stallone Defends Daughter's Tulsa King Role Amid Nepotism Attacks
Sylvester Stallone has defended casting his 24-year-old daughter, Scarlet Rose Stallone, in the Paramount+ series *Tulsa King*, openly acknowledging that family connections helped secure the role. Television viewers and entertainment analysts tracking Hollywood casting practices have scrutinized the collaboration as the actor addressed public backlash in a recent interview.
Family Connections Open Doors, But Performance Sustains Careers, Actor Says
The 80-year-old actor dismissed criticism surrounding his daughter’s involvement during a discussion with *USA Today*, arguing that parents have an obligation to provide their children with every professional advantage. Scarlet Rose has portrayed the character Spencer in the crime drama since its 2022 premiere, with her screen time expanding alongside her father’s character, Dwight Manfredi.
“You’re not a good parent if you haven’t performed a little nepotism,” Stallone stated, emphasizing that family ties are a natural extension of parental support.
While family connections helped facilitate the casting, Stallone noted that longevity in the entertainment industry depends entirely on individual execution. Once actors enter a project, maintaining a high level of performance remains entirely out of their parents’ hands.
The father-daughter duo previously featured together in the reality television series *The Family Stallone*, which documented their lives outside major Hollywood studio productions.
