10-Year UAE Golden Visa Opens for Top Global Graduates With a Strict One-Term Limit
If you graduated from a top-tier university abroad within the last two years, you can secure a 10-year UAE Golden Visa without needing a local employer to sponsor you. But unlike most long-term residency tracks in the country, this specific permit comes with a strict boundary: once your ten years are up, you cannot renew it under the student and graduate category.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) sets four mandatory conditions for international graduates seeking this visa. First, your university must sit within the global top 100 list recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education. Second, you must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (or its equivalent) in your bachelor’s degree. Third, you must submit your application before two full years have passed from your graduation date. Finally, your degree certificate must be formally attested by the Ministry of Education.
You can verify whether your institution qualifies before starting your paperwork. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts its recognized top-universities list online, and the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO) maintains a direct portal index. The ICP also provides a ‘Check Your Eligibility’ online tool to test your credentials before filing.
Holding this permit grants you a decade of residency without employer sponsorship and allows you to sponsor your spouse and children. Sponsoring family members requires presenting an employment contract, proof of a steady monthly income, and adequate housing under standard family visa regulations.
Crucially, the residency status carries a hard end date. According to the ICP, the international graduate Golden Visa is non-renewable upon expiration. When your 10-year term ends, remaining legally compliant in the UAE means transitioning to a new residency category based on your situation at that time, such as a standard employment visa, an investor visa, a freelance permit, or another Golden Visa track like the Content Creator category.
How to Submit Your Application
- Verify Your University Status: Check your school’s inclusion on the top 100 list via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (`mofa.gov.ae/en/top-universities`) or through the Abu Dhabi Residents Office portal.
- Attest Your Qualifications: Have your bachelor’s degree formally attested by the Ministry of Education.
- Submit a Nomination Request: Before filing the visa application itself, apply for an official Golden Visa nomination. Dubai-based applicants must apply through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai), while applicants in all other emirates must submit through the ICP.
- Complete the Visa Application: Once your nomination request is approved by the authority confirming your eligibility, proceed to finalize your 10-year Golden Visa application through the corresponding portal.
